- As mentioned in this space yesterday, and confirmed by the Washington Post today, prosecutions of offenders under the newly asserted right of federal prosecution for medicinal marijuana users seems unlikely. Ahh, isn't it grand that sometimes the best that we can hope for is for bad laws to die from lack of enforcement?
- Forget John McCain. Forget Rudy Guiliani. Forget Jeb Bush, Condi Rice or any other possible 2008 Republican challenger. The most dangerous single person for the future of the Democratic Party is Howard Dean, as this clip and story show. The things that he said are, in many ways, glib but true. Still, want political death all over again? Keep this guy at the helm and he will make John Kerry look viable and electable.
- Speaking of John Kerry, this was an interesting story in the Boston Globe today. Seems the cerebral, intellectual, sober John Kerry didn't do much better than the social, back-slapping drunk George W. Bush. If these records are indeed correct, it just goes to show that 1. it IS hard to get good grades at Yale and 2. our society will never be run by our smartest people. This is not in any way a bad thing.

Longer reflections to return tomorrow. Expect to revisit the Supreme Court question, like it or not.
